Smoky Spiced Chicken Drumsticks

Ingredients

Chicken Drumsticks:

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika 
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder 
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper 
  • 1/4 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt 
  • 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • Chicken drumsticks (6 pieces) 
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil

Recipe & Preparation

  1. Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 425ºF (220ºC). This ensures that your chicken drumsticks cook evenly and develop a nice crispiness.
  2. Prepare the Spice Mix: In a small bowl, combine the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, dried oregano, salt, and freshly cracked black pepper. This aromatic blend of spices will infuse your drumsticks with irresistible flavour.
  3. Coat the Drumsticks: Place the chicken drumsticks in a large bowl and drizzle the cooking oil over them. Sprinkle the prepared spice mix over the drumsticks, ensuring they are evenly coated. Use your hands to toss the drumsticks, making sure each piece is well coated in the flavourful spice mixture.
  4. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper for easier cleanup, if desired. Arrange the seasoned drumsticks on the baking sheet, leaving enough space between each piece so they’re not touching. This allows the heat to circulate evenly, resulting in crispy, golden-brown drumsticks.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake the drumsticks for approximately 40 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 175ºF (80ºC). Remember to flip the drumsticks halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning on all sides.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Once the drumsticks are cooked to perfection, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool slightly.
