Ingredients

  • 1 lb top sirloin premium minute steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for cooking)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup snap peas, ends trimmed
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1-2 red chilies, thinly sliced (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
  • Cooked jasmine rice or noodles (for serving)

Recipe & Preparation

  1. Prepare the Steak: Marinate the sliced top sirloin premium minute steak with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and set it aside while you prepare the vegetables.
  2. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, and lime juice. Set aside.
  3. Cooking: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Once hot, add the marinated steak slices and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the steak from the pan and set it aside.
  4. Stir-Fry Veggies: In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Add minced garlic and sliced onion, and stir-fry for about a minute until fragrant.
  5. Add Vegetables: Add the sliced bell peppers, broccoli florets, and snap peas. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender but still crisp.
  6. Combine: Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the prepared sauce over the mixture and toss everything together. Let it cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the ingredients evenly.
  7. Finish: Add sliced red chilies (adjust the amount based on your spice tolerance) and torn basil leaves. Toss everything together for a final minute, allowing the flavours to meld.
  8. Serve: Serve the Thai-style steak stir-fry over a bed of jasmine rice or noodles. Garnish with extra basil leaves or sliced green onions if desired.
